Yesterday Pope Benedict XVI, as popes are prone to do, put his foot in it.
'The world is as much at risk from homosexuality as it is from the destruction of the Rain Forests'
Of course that is a most ridiculous claim, as anyone with an ounce of common sense must know but from a man who a billion people believe is God's infallible representative on earth, it is positively dangerous and scandalous.
Homosexual organisations, as could be expected, condemned the pope's pronouncement but it is unlikely that anyone else will because – well, there are a couple of reasons, one of which is that although the pope's comment is clearly risible, since it concerns homosexuals 'who cares?'
One reason why the pope's comment is dangerous is because it will furnish Aebabs (American evangelical born again bigots) with ammunition to further attack a minority of people whose lifestyle does not live up to their bigotted beliefs. Let me, if I may, put the record straight.
God loves you.
Have you got that? And the love is unconditional, which means; He loves even Aebabs who in my prejudiced opinion don't deserve His love. Why then would God not love Homosexuals? And who including the Aebabs, have the right to question His reasons for creating Gay people the way He did?
There is a challenge to the pope and the Reverend Moon on this website, let me take this opportunity to extend it to the Aebabs.
